Content

What is the story of your day?  What type of content is inserted into your book of Acts each day?  I think we sometimes miss the point as we strive to break through life and we end up inserting blank pages into our chapter of Acts.

I am somewhat hung up on the realization that the Book of Acts in the Holy Bible is an open ended project that is still being written by the lives of faithful people.  As we finish our journey, our story is available for others to read just like we read about the faithful few who took the good news of Christ into the world.  We are continuing that journey you know.

As guys, we can get wrapped up in pursuing a material legacy for our family, or perhaps we spend our days ensuring that the others around us are not hungry, they have shelter, and they are clothed.  But how much of our time is spent ensuring that our families and friends have something for their soul?

As a guy, I completely understand the pursuit of taking care of my family’s needs.  It’s what I do.  And I can completely get lost in that task and not tend to their spiritual development.  They are their own persons, and they each inspire me… but what am I doing to help cultivate their faith?  To lead them to what is right?  It’s my responsibility to help with that.

There are days, too many to count, where I leave a blank page inside of my chapter of Acts.  I am somewhat afraid to look back in my life to see if there are more blank pages than actual content for my story.

We can get very busy doing those things that make us men… hunt and gather and provide… but how often do we get sidetracked, put our chapter of Acts on the shelf and not write anything for days, weeks, months… or even years?

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.  How appropriate.  People will judge your faith based on what they see on the outside.  I think that’s why we spend so much time making our book cover look  so incredibly cool.  The reality is that Christ Jesus is opening your life up to read what is on the inside.  He could care less about your cover.

How tragic it is that He died for you and me… and we leave our chapter of Act blank.  I kind of get the idea that this is what Jesus really meant when He teaches us that if you deny Him… He will not know you when your time comes to stand face to face with Him.

Not writing a single word in your Chapter of Acts… is saying that your faith is empty and without content.  It testifies for you that your life was spent designing a really cool cover… and that’s about it.

When I am through doing whatever it is that I do… will my chapter of Acts be blank?  Will my legacy be one of pursuing stuff?  What about you?

May today be filled with content for your chapter.  May you live in a way that another page of Acts is written by your actions.  May we all realize that how we live now is our witness to our faith in Christ.

Man up…keep on providing… just add in the faith provision.

Peace.
