The hope of what is just ahead has launched a thousand ships. If there is one thing that is constant through history, across all nations, and inherent in the spirit of every single living person that has ever been… or will ever come… is hope of what is next.
Regardless of the depth of your pocket, the height of your success, and regardless of your hunger or your poverty… hope is what fuels our lives.
Where is your hope? Is your hope on the horizon? Or is your hope within you?
Placing your hope on the horizon will leave you empty, unfulfilled, and ineffective at life in general. Any right minded person understands that you never reach the horizon… ever.
Jesus Christ taught over and over and over again that we should stop concerning ourselves about when He will come again. We should quit worrying about when God was going to restore His Kingdom on earth.
Jesus plainly tells you where to look for your hope:
20Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation,21nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is within[b] you.” – Luke 17.21 (NIV)
Did you hear those words? Do you understand those words? Your goal of faith is not on the horizon. Foolish men chase dreams on the horizon. There is no success of faith if you spend your life looking for better days to come.
Men, your hope is in your heart. And if you fill your heart with darkness you have no hope. Evil will convince you that the horizon is where you should chase your dreams… to keep your eyes off of the wicked deeds being done within you … right under your nose. And we wonder why our lives can get upside down so quickly.
Look to Christ and understand that the Kingdom of God begins when we turn our hopes and dreams over to God… allow Him to shape them… and give us purpose right here… right now.
I do not want to be counted among the billions of people who have died before me who were hoping for a better day… and missed the unlimited blessings, peace, and joy that was available within them through Christ… every day.
May you pull your eyes from the horizon and place them on Christ within you. Pray for revelation in your day that will open your eyes to see God at work all around you.
And if you don’t know who Christ Jesus is… we need to talk. Peace in your life is available… immediately.
