Have you noticed how many conversations are built around complaining? I guess it’s true that misery loves company. Why? I catch myself initiating some of those gripe sessions… and I don’t like it. So where is the joy of being in the company of critics? I certainly don’t care to be around myself when I’m complaining about seemingly everything.
Here’s the punch in the gut. Why would anyone want to be a part of the body of Christ if his followers do nothing but complain all the time? Where is the joyful, abundant life evidenced in us if we carry around a scowl and a critical spirit. Truthfully… no one wants to hear about my ailments, aches, gripes, peeves, or disgusts. Right?
Here’s your challenge today. When you want to join the complaining… stop. Find the joy inside of the conversation. Start at least 3 conversations today with something positive, nice, or complimentary of the people around you. This will put you in the mindset of “others“… which is what Christ came to teach us.
