Here it is.  Monday!  Are you prepared to embrace it?  The water cooler talk will now point to NFL football as the olympics closed the doors on another chapter last night.  I don’t know about you, but I certinaly had no idea that volleyball was such an enormous sport!  Every time I turned on the NBC broadcast I watched… volleyball!  What happened to the decathalon?  What happened to seeing some ping pong?  What about the open water swim?  Weightlifting?  I saw none of it.  I vote that monkeys perform next year’s broadcast, at least the camera angles will be exciting.

Enough of that, let’s go on to what is important!  You’ve got a week in front of you my good man and that’s another opportunity to dig your heels in and show the world what a manly man you are.  Your challenge this week is this… honor God with your mouth this week.  Shut up when you are about to cut someone down.  Shut up when you are about to turn God’s name into trash.  And please shut up when you are about to boast about your prowess.  You may gain a couple of chuckles from onlookers, but deep down, you’re making yourself look pretty stupid.  Now I’m not talking about a few socially taboo words.  I really don’t think God has concern over words that we’ve chosen to make “dirty”.  I’m talking about things that come out of your mouth that make sailors blush.  The kind of talk that basically needs a janitor to clean up afterwards. 

I’m not jumping up and down about this, I’m just challenging all of us to say 2 less things per day this week that does nothing but tear down God’s name.  You can throw around the cuss words all you want, but if you wouldn’t say it in front of your buddy’s kids, don’t say it when you’re alone.  In the Bible, the writer, James, tells us that the tongue is a mean little instrument that can tear nations down.  If that’s the case, then how powerful can the tongue be if it speaks words of power and might.

We all want to be mighty men… right?  Right!  Then let’s start this week by leaving a few things left unsaid. Thanks for your support, your attention, and your encouragement.  I’m looking forward to rolling out more for Live Bold.
