“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. – John 4:33
Isn’t it easy to get caught in the mad scramble to complete more tasks, accomplish more work, push more production, or even start entirely too many projects? Rarely finishing but a few?
The success of a man isn’t measured by how many things you can juggle, multitask, or simply create. The real measure comes in how you finish. Anyone, regardless of training can line up at the starting line for a marathon, or even a short 3 mile run, but only the committed can actually finish. Isn’t winning more about finishing than starting? Isn’t life more about how you close out… how you finish?
When the overwhelming pressure of the daily grind presses against your chest, take a deep breath and count how many of those stressers you will actually finish. Starting more things than you can accomplish isn’t God’s design. God is a finisher, Jesus is a finisher, the disciples were finishers… what about you?
When we say “yes” to Christ, we are expected to finish. He told us to do it like He did… are you prepared to finish like Jesus? Or are you simply starting something new with no intention of completing the work?
How many things have you started that will never be completed?
What 2 things can you drop that you will never finish?
PRAY: God, I want to finish the race and complete the things that I’ve obligated myself to. Show me how to be dependable and teach me how to say “no” to those things I’ll never complete. Give me the courage to finish like Jesus. Amen.
