The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? – Psalm 118:6 (NIV)
Who we fear is often told in the way we live our lives. Regardless of age, nationality, gender, or marital status we have a tendency to allow fear of some people enter through the unprotected cracks in our armor. It’s healthy to respect the ugly outcomes of poor decisions and encounters with unruly people, but fear them? Never.
If God lives within you, around you, and blazing paths in front of you… then where do those who oppose you stand a chance?
We can honor God through the way we live our life and how we respond to adversity. However, when we have God’s abiding spirit lodged deep within our soul, living in fear of others… is wasteful.
The people that attempt to control, manipulate, and intend harm are examples of what happens when fear runs out of control. The lives of those who intend to strike fear in you are usually wrapped up in fear themselves.
Stand your ground, grip your joy, and never give away your hope in Christ. There is simply no one on the earth who can take it away from you… just don’t give it away.
Who are you most afraid of and why?
What one thing can you do to overcome fear of someone?
PRAY: God, help me to realize that your hand is mightier than armies. Remind me that your strength is more powerful than nations. Show me how to stand in the face of my fear and teach me how to navigate those waters. Amen.
