How are you going to waste today?  Have you decided?  When you woke up this morning did you break out a checklist of items that you absolutely are not going to do?

I’m sure your day will be filled with all types of nonsense and things that really have no weight in the greater scheme of life, but did you know that today you will encounter a moment or two that could change your life and someone else’s life?

One of the profound truths of being a Christian is that God is entrusting you to be His hands and feet right here, right now.  So, how are you going to use those hands today?  Where are those feet taking you?

Christ came to teach us how to believe in God.  We do this by understanding God’s ways and commands for our lives.  If we truly believe that Christ is our Lord, then we should be compelled to be as much like him as we can.  This means that we are charged with opening our eyes and looking for ways to put our faith into action… and faith in action stretching a hand out to your neighbor in need.

Rather than blowing another day on things that really don’t mount up to anything… why don’t you look for ways to fulfill God’s command to you… Love your neighbor as yourself.  I agree that we all have things we have to do with work, or chores, or any other time consuming activity… however, God is calling you to more than that.  Open your eyes and look around, don’t blow it… we’re counting on you.

There is a prayer that I pray each day and God answers it 100% of the time, it goes like this:

God, allow me to be your hands and feet today.  Open my eyes that I can see you when you are near, open my ears that I can hear your voice when you call me, and grant me the wisdom to understand the need and how to respond.  Give me the courage to act and the words to speak.  Allow me to be your servant today and use me to bring light into the life of someone who is searching for you.  Through Christ Jesus I pray this to you God… Amen.

Every single time I pray this prayer… regardless of how I say it… I walk through my day with eyes wide open and God delivers someone right to me every single time.  It’s amazing how God answers this prayer and even more amazing how fulfilled I become when I know that I was able to extend a hand for God.

I don’t always pray this prayer everyday and I don’t always act… but I try. The days that I miss… I go to bed knowing that I’ve blown another day.

Don’t waste today.  If you are here to find inspiration, hope, and a challenge, then I urge you to clean up your heart, pray that God use you… and be ready to respond.
