So here we are. The election is over and Obama is the new President of the United States. So how does this change your life? Will you act differently? Will you breathe differently? Will you live differently? I can’t help but wonder about all of the people (maybe yourself included) that has written or forwarded on emails about how Obama is the anti-christ, America hater, Muslim, or whatever. Most of these emails were and are still being circulated by people who profess to be Christians. If you were on this bandwagon… are you still there? And if you feel so deeply about those things that you chose to circulate… what are you going to do now?
I say this because I voted for McCain, I did not forward on those stupid emails or buy into the hype – I’m not an Obama hater. Last night and still today, I believe that whomever was elected wasn’t going to change my focus on serving God. It may give me more challenges personally… but isn’t that where God works the hardest with us? Don’t we find out more about ourselves when we live against the grain versus going with the flow?
In the aftermath of the build-up and hype around this election, we are all left with pretty much the same day we had before it all started. We are blessed to wake up, take a deep breath of air, and walk about our day in freedom and security. That within itself certainly affords us options that 90% of the world struggles with and dreams to find. My prayers have so much more to do with Christians not being lukewarm than it is about electing a man President.
As a Christian, I have pledged my allegiance to God. I love my country because it affords me the freedoms to worship God without persecution or fear… and to some degree that builds complacency of faith. Regardless of who is running this great nation, I will still worship God, pray to God, and attempt to live a life that is acceptable in His sight.
If you are an Obama supporter… go pray and live a life that honors God with your actions and your mouth. If you are a McCain supporter… go pray and a live a life that honors God with your actions and your mouth.
I am excited to see how the United States adapts and moves along. The anticipation for opportunities to share my faith were around before the election and will certainly be around after the election.
I only wish that all Christians would exercise such a fervor when defending Christ’s name and place of honor as we have with our election. Makes you wonder where our treasures are… huh?
May God be a part of your speech, your actions, and your thoughts today.
Peace,
Greg
