Do you recall the storied fable of Blues legend Robert Johnson? He found himself at the crossroads of life and had a choice to make. He could choose the road to goodness, or he could choose the road to hell. The tough part of the decision is that the road to goodness seemed like hard work – swimming up stream. It required patience, humility, self-control, and righteousness. The road to hell was laden with riches, things of desire, quick fixes, and all the things the world had to offer – just coast and let it happen.
We wake up everyday and step out of our beds at the crossroads. We have a decision to make that will have a lasting impact on our lives. As men of faith, you not only impact your own life… but you impact the lives of those who are counting on you. If it were a one man show… you could choose the road to hell and in the end… it would only be you that suffered.
Heads up…It’s not a one man show.
Each day that you choose to live a life that is reckless, riotous, unbecoming, and irresponsible… you are dragging people down the road behind you. You are responsible for the lives of those around you… like it or not.
Each day that you choose to live a life that is honorable in God’s sight, righteous, loving, and in the spirit of walking like Christ… you are leading others around you to a life in the light of Christ.
15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15
You may not be an expert evangelist, witness, bible thumper, or gospel spreader… but you are uniquely made to be you… and you are exactly what God wants. Be yourself, choose the righteous road everyday, and be called good-faithful-servant. There are hundreds of people in your circle of influence who are watching you and responding to your decisions. It is your responsibility to live a life that mirrors God’s will, which is to Love Him with all you’ve got… and love your neighbors as yourself.
There is an even more tragic response to each day at the crossroads; standing still in fear of moving or making the wrong decision. Jesus speaks and teaches about this detestable lifestyle… He calls it “Lukewarm Living”. Standing still is something a corpse does… so what are you actually accomplishing by standing still in fear?
Each day that we wake up and draw in the breath of life, we have a decision to make between pursuing Good, evil, or neither. It’s in your hands. There are payoffs for each, but only one leads to an amazing life (Hint: It’s the Good/God way).
I just pray that you do not stand still in fear of moving… don’t let fear paralyze you. You can do this… you can choose the right road… and together we can move forward and lead our men, our communities, our families, and our churches down a path that honors God.

The decisions that you make today will effect your future tomorrow.
Well said. Couldn’t agree more.
