NOW! No Boundaries.
There are no boundaries. If I were to say this phrase to you in person, you would hear me place the emphasis on the word “no”. I think we should all take a step back and look how we’ve twisted the image of God to make it fit into a tight little parcel of land bordered by a road or highway. If you’ve read any part of Bible’s New Testament, then you should have plainly understood what Jesus came to do… He knocked down the boundaries. If you didn’t get that on the first read… you need to go back and read it again.
God is beyond comprehension. You or I cannot define God by any means… doing so… creates boundaries. It is not your job or your obligation to tell other people who God is, how He acts, what He will do, and when He will do it. Your view of God is shaped by who you are and the life experiences you have had to this date. Your life, your actions, and your words are testimony to God and who He is in your life. The more you live according to God’s plan… the more your life explains who He is to others who don’t know Him.
I was in a conversation with a person the other day about healing. The person said that God doesn’t necessarily heal people in a literal way… but He mends their spirit… allowing them to be healed with hope of eternal life in a new body. WHAT?!? At what point did this person start thinking and acting on God’s behalf? I personally have not been physically healed of any ailment. However, I will never place a boundary on God. I do believe healing is available… it just takes a little effort to knock down some boundaries you’ve built.
People say… I believe in God… and that is as far as they will let it go in their lives. Are you one of them? Others have said that God said everything He needed to say in the Bible and is now silent… Do you hear from God? I have had a minister tell me that “God doesn’t talk to people in clear voice… that it’s more of a urging of the spirit.” – This joker needs a sabbatical out of the pulpit and some alone time in God’s Story (Bible)
Meditate on this…God is bigger than you.
God will blow your mind if you will remove the boundaries. When you place God in a box… you must realize that God isn’t in the box… you are. What are you doing in there? Do you like the comfort of living in the dark? Are you doing something that you don’t want God to see? In a narrow minded attempt to put God where you think He belongs… is more or less saying that you are god and He is of no use to you.
Who are you to place God anywhere?!? As a church leader… have you built boundaries for God to operate? If you have… have you noticed how you have failed?
Men are excellent boundary builders. We love to mark our turf and draw lines. We build walls, fences, ditches, and all sorts of markers to designate what is ours and what is yours. We do the same thing in our lives when it comes to faith in God. We give Him certain areas of our life… but hold back the rest of it.
I’m not speaking for God here… but based on what I’ve read about Him and how I’ve experienced Him in my own life… you’re headed for a breakdown if you don’t give up your boundaries. You see… God will never disappoint you. But I guarantee that you will disappoint yourself over and over and over again.
The worst thing we have done in the Christian faith is build pretty church buildings…. just look at those boundaries. It gives us some special permission to act real nice and cordial when we’re in it… but act like a spawn from hell when we’re not. If you change the way you act when you are in a church building… who are you trying to fool?
If your faith is weak, then you believe God is weak. If you only give God 2 hours a week… then you believe that God is “over there” and not “right here”. If you pray daily, read His word daily, and lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance every day… you will never be disappointed.
I hope that you get out of the box today. I trust that your eyes will be opened to God and that you will stand up straight and realize that the boundaries don’t apply to God… all they do is define who you are.
Peace,
Greg
