Let’s get this party started.

I’m comin’ up
So you better
Get this party started.
I’m comin’ up
So you better
Get this party started.
Get this party started
On a Saturday night
Everybody’s waitin’
For me to arrive
Sendin’ out the message
To all of my friends
I’m comin’ up

Man, God created us for a purpose and the purpose is to have a relationship with Him.  There is a destination, your life is the journey and because of FREE WILL you can choose to do what you want with it.  However, you were put on this earth to have a relationship with God, through His grace.   Sometimes we get disconnected from that purpose because of that free will.  Life gets in the way, the job, making a living for our family and all that other stuff.  We get caught up in life and forget about that destination and our connection to the relationship. However, there is hope a special party for you at the end of your journey through life.

Jesus says that life should be very intentional,  “You have a mission and if you follow me I want you to tell everybody in the world who I am. I am going back to heaven and your job is to spread the world about who I am.”  The Great Commission  Matthew 28:16-20

16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Jesus says to you … “I want everybody on the planet to know about me. When this happens I will come back and there will be heaven on earth”.  Wow, that is some strong words that we as Christians need to take heed.  The Great Commission was the last thing that Jesus said to his disciples before He went back to heaven.  As humans we often want to take the easy way out, let someone else do it, procrastinate.  As men of faith we need to think about the task and the reward at the end.  We need to think about the fact that God wants to have a never ending party when we get to heaven.  He wants us to act bold and embrace His mission.

There are 6.8 billion people on this planet and of that there are 2.9 billion that do not have access to Jesus.  God will accomplish His mission with or without you.  It will be a lot better for us if we are part of His mission.  That when we arrive at the party He will say, “Man you did a great job for me during your short time on earth”.  He will take you by your hand and lead you to the front of the stage.  He will say to the millions in heaven, “Good and faithful servant you did a great job.”

God’s mission on earth will be fulfilled.  I am reminded by King David, in the Psalms that this mission takes place with or without me.  I want it to be with me.  What about you?

Psalm 86: 8-12

8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.

9 All the nations you have made
will come and worship before you
, O Lord;
they will bring glory to your name.

10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds;
you alone are God.

11 Teach me your way, O LORD,
and I will walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.

12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever…

Are you ready for the party?  No, I don’t want to die yet.  I have a mission to do to tell all the world about the life of Jesus Christ.

When I was teaching I had my kids do an essay, as well as a typing assignment of the following text.

Wanted To Change The World
By Unknown Monk, 1100 A.D.

When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.

I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.
When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.

Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family. My family and I could have made an impact on our town. Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.”

That relationship needs to begin with you, then the Great Commission can be your mission and you too can get to the party. So let’s get the party started…
