What in the world are we supposed to be doing with the time we have here and now? Do you have peace about where you are… right now? Have you found your groove? Do you hop and dash around looking for the next thing?
Does you life revolve around this phrase: “if I could only do this… then I would be content”. If so… listen to this:
- There is no pursuit in this world that will ever fill the hole in your life that longs for the Creator.
- There is no amount of knowledge that you can attain that will help you understand the depth of God.
- There is no deed that you can do to earn the love of God.
- There is no magic phrase that will suddenly transform your life simply by reciting it.
- There is no ticket or piece of paper that will rescue you from the grasp of evil and it’s pursuit of you.
- There is no more happiness to be found “over there” that isn’t already “over here”.
- There is no person who has it “all together”.
- There is no religion that will redeem your life.
- There is no ritual that will purify you without God’s Grace.
- There is nothing you can do to make God love you less.
- There is no sudden transformation that occurs from walking into a church building.
There are mountains of misconceptions that keep people of faith bound up. Some of the most faithful people I have ever known have gotten caught up in the minutia of technical requirements. My stomach twists into knots everytime I hear someone say that “I’m searching for God’s will in my life, and when He reveals it to me, I’ll be…”. God doesn’t hide His will. It’s in plain sight from birth to death.
Let me help you understand something that we all need to hear over and over again. God’s will is simple – Love Him with all that you are and Love the people around you with your words and actions. There is no deed you have done that is beyond God’s forgiveness.
The beauty of free will is that we all have the opportunity to live our lives to the fullest. The joy doesn’t come from what we do, where we are, or the conditions we are in. Joy comes from knowing that God almighty is not only incomprehensible, but intimite and relational inside every moment, every situation, every breath.
I’ve seen many lives wasted (mine included) wondering what I should be doing, where I should be going, and whether or not I have been a good and faithful follower of Jesus Christ. The point is not the geography… the point is the relationship.
God created ALL of this amazing world… and the only thing we create is strife when we don’t acknowledge His presence in ALL things.
I love my church, and I love the church I grew up attending. They are a part of who I am today. But we need to be careful about believing that if we go to those buildings, sing those songs, and go through those rituals… that everything is ok. If that is case, then why have you walked out of a service feeling jaded or burdened or the same as you did when you entered? The church is what helps us get to an understanding of how to love God through serving. Its up to you to cultivate your relationship with God every day.
HERE’S THE SECRET TO HAPPINESS:
Use the talents, abilities, and skills that God has given uniquely to you… to serve and give to someone else. And do it with joy in your heart giving God the glory for those abilities. Everything else WILL take care of itself.
This life is not easy. Holding on to your faith is tough. There is no end point where you can look back and say, “I made it!”. The joy of God exists in being satisfied with His provision for you in this moment and this moment only. String of few of those moments together and you will look at this as being the happiest time of your life.
May you understand that evil wants you to be unhappy and constantly searching for peace, while God is standing by you no matter where you are…offering you peace, happiness, and contentment. He created the rhythm of your heart on the first day of life and gave you the gift of your own identity…your talents, your abilities, your love… is who you are. Honor God by giving it all away everyday. Now the cat is out of the bag. Share it.
