Hey Danny. Please know that you are not alone! Everywhere I go and anywhere I talk to guys leading men's ministry, I hear this same story. In general, churches across denominational lines have for many years neglected a real focus on men's discipleship. I'm not talking about the occasional meeting or Saturday morning breakfast, but a focus from church leadership down on discipling and mentoring men. But I also see God doing a new thing and raising up men, such as yourself, that are following Jesus and not waiting on anyone else to, wading into the battle and making a real difference. Greg and I are committed to this new wave of men's ministry that is quietly swelling up. We're packing in a lot of volunteer hours to inspire and encourage men like you to not give up, but to charge on and lead. Hang in, brother. We're praying and we're here to help! -Robert

Thanks Danny. Robert did well on this one. Please continue to share! A quick heads up... soon, we'll be making all of our articles available by PDF. We've had many requests for this feature for small groups and men's ministry leaders. If you tap into the 2 Minute Drill, you'll also find a daily devotion with questions and a prayer. I've got a 2nd issue almost finished. Perfect stuff for men's study groups. Blessings on you!

Integrity is defined as doing the right thing when no one else is watching. I think the easiest way to ensure a life of integrity is to remember one thing. As per the teachings of Jesus Christ...I am my brothers keeper. I am responsible and will be held accountable. Remembering that makes doing the right thing very easy. I wish Joe would have figured that out sooner.

Thanks Brother! Your articles gives us all plenty to think, talk and pray about. I guess though the first relationship we need balance with is with God himself. I think without this relationship being in proper balance the others can not. Even when I can understand this, I struggle with what this really is like. Perhaps that is why God is so patient with us. He understands our struggles and help us through. And I see LiveBold the same. A place where Christian men come and patiently help each other with our relationships with God and others. Thanks for your leadership! May God richly bless you in this new year!

Nice article Steve! Very true and my hope is that all couples who are going through tough times can try and recall what they felt in their heart when they said "I do," knowing that it would be a lifelong committment.

@cqwagner

There simply isn't a way to achieve freedom without a heart transformation. You've given some great references on moving that direction. Now... we must reach into the lives of those around us and do the hard work of ministering to the need and planting the seed!

Amen. Consistency in the Word will keep us clean. We must continue to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith (2 Cor 13:5) and be washed by the Word (Ephesians 5:26). We must also crucify the flesh daily (Galatians 5:24). After the heart change we must consistently be taught, matured, and preserved by His Word and His Spirit or we risk familiar spirits coming back upon us worse than before (Matthew 12:43-45).

This is great advice. I've had to learn that there doesn't have to be a 'fix' for whatever the problem is - there has to be validation, support and empathy, and above all, love. This has been quite a hard lesson to learn, because my natural reaction, along with many other men I know, is to try to 'fix' things.

Hello Robert, I loved the story. I enjoyed the analogy that you used with regards to being tempted by taking alternate paths and how that can cost us in the long run. I would imagine that all of us are guilty of being distracted and lured down the wrong path. That is why it is important that we do not allow the world around us to drown out the small still voice of the Holy Spirit that can keep us from making those types of mistakes. Sometimes we have to learn through the school of hard knocks when we are too stubborn or distracted to be obedient.

Thank you for this message. Throughout my life I have tried very hard not to fall prey to all the advertising gimics. I try to avoid the expensive brand names whenever I can. More important is to keep my focus on Godly things. I got married 20 years ago, and unfortunately, I allowed my wife to persue bigger houses, shiny new cars, and lots of stuff. My marriage is strained and I have been separated from my wife for over 3 years. I now realize that I needed to me a better spiritual leader rather than a "stuff manager" and at 54 that is what I am working on. I have been getting rid of excess stuff, focusing on the things of God and praying that my wife and kids will see how much more important God is than anything this world can offer.
