But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds. – Psalm 73:28 (NIV)
Regardless of how we approach life, we find our way to poor decisions on many occasions. Some of those momentary lapses can take us to places we never intended to travel. Our response during these seemingly random chaotic events are the ones that define us and often are the barometers of our faith in God.
Too often we only give God an inch to operate… while we allow ourselves miles of leeway to overcome our consequences. Of course, God can operate in small spaces… just look back at your life and see the ways He has righted some of your wrongs. Our proposed solutions to God are rarely, if ever, as good as the ones He executes for us.
Would you agree that God has done some amazing things in the small space you carved out for his provision? Just imagine what He could do if you gave him all of your space to let Him work!?! Wouldn’t the results be longer lasting? Honorable? Permanent?
Regardless of the messes you may have made, it’s time to open the door a little wider and come clean. When we finally confess that we don’t have the skill set to do what God can do – He does amazing things in our life.
Facing a difficult challenge right now? Swap the allocation of control. This time, you take the inch… and give God the mile. Then stand back and watch what happens!
THE RIGHT NEXT STEP
Tell God about one problem that you’ve been trying to handle on your own. (He already knows – but tell Him anyway).
PRAY: Almighty God, I have made some big mistakes. However, none are as big as shutting you out of my problems. Remind me to release those things that consume me and give them all to you. I can’t do it alone, and I need your guidance. Amen.
